As part of the stimulus package signed in February 2009 by President Obama, the HITECH act was initiated to encourage physicians to use EHR's (Electronic Health Records) through incentive payments to those physicians who adopt and use EHR's in a meaningful manor. Many physicians are jumping on board early in hopes of getting up to $44,000 of medicare stimulus money for their practices. There are guidelines and the system used must be certified. Please check with your software vendor for more information.
